F.A.Q.s & News
WHAT KIND OF BOOKS DO YOU BUY?
It depends on what we need. At this store we tend to need mostly paperback fiction, but we’ll take a look at anything. The books do need to be in good shape.
Recently we bought a wonderful collection of cookbooks and a large variety of audio books simply because they were in such beautiful condition.
WHAT DO YOU PAY FOR BOOKS?
The basic (not hard and fast) rule for current books in print is, we sell books for half of what they are new, you get half of that in credit or a little less in cash.
WHAT HOURS DO YOU BUY?
Generally we’re buying from 10-5:30 everyday day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We do encourage you to call and make sure the buyer is at the store.
CAN I DROP OFF BOOKS TO TRADE/SELL AND COME BACK TOMORROW?
Unfortunately no, not unless you’ve made previous arrangements–we simply don’t have room to store books after we’ve gone through them. This is also for your protection so they don’t get lost in the shuffle. It doesn’t usually take us long to go through the books, if you’d like to run quick errands that’s fine.
WHAT CAN I USE STORE CREDIT FOR?
Store credit from Bob’s Beach Books and Robert’s Bookshop can be used at both stores for any books, cards, prints, pretty much anything in the store except some consignment comics and original artwork. We don’t ask you to pay a percentage in cash, credit can be used for 100% of the purchase.
I WROTE A BOOK, WILL YOU CARRY IT?
We support as many Oregon authors as we can. We generally carry one copy at a time and reorder as they sell. The book needs to be a professionally bound book with the title written on the spine (people won’t see your book if they can’t see the title when it’s on the shelf), and we go with the industry standard discount. You’re welcome to get in touch with questions, please contact the manager about your book and we’ll see what we can do!
I WROTE/ILLUSTRATED A BOOK, HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR THE AUTHOR FAIR?
Phone or email the manager, Diana, and she’ll send you all the details.
I’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO WORK IN A BOOKSTORE, ARE YOU HIRING?
People tend to stay on here so we aren’t hiring often but you’re welcome to drop by a resume.
